Relay Engineer Substation and Transmission

Job Description

Job Description: Insight Global is looking for a Relay Engineer focusing on Substation projects to join their team. This individual will act as the lead relay engineer for numerous substation projects and will be responsible for preparing sketches to be used as the design guide for drafters in the preparation of relay and meter one-line diagrams, schematics, and construction drawings. They will be performing calculations for numerous types of relays and should be familiar with vendor software's like GE relays and SE relays.

Daily, the Relay Engineer will be communicating with the field workers to troubleshoot any issues that arise within any relay system. They should be comfortable performing calculations for electromechanical, solid state, and microprocessor type relays. They will also be preparing outage reports utilizing relay/DFR records and will provide test letters and corrective action plans as needed. This person should be capable of running relay projects, approving drawings and fault event reviews.

This person should be comfortable familiar with NERC, NPCC, and RFC standards and requirements associated with Protection Systems and should have great communication skills.

Skills and Requirements

- 3-5 years of relay engineering experience

- Bachelor's degree specifically in Electrical Engineering

- Experience with transmission relay design, settings, testing and protection systems

- Ability to interpret one-line schematic, logic diagrams and wiring drawings

- Proficiency with ASPEN OneLiner and SEL/GE software's

- Great communication skills null
