  • Manages the release of new software or a software/system update, coordinating with development, QA, & Application Support teams to ensure they complete development, test the software, and prepare all necessary components for a simultaneous release across all operating systems and platforms. Track development activities and gauge progress through the different phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC). Mitigate the risk of code releases to production by facilitating code fixes, ensuring only approved code is deployed to production, and clients are on the correct code base.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Works with deployment engineers to understand the impacts of code branches and merges in source code management (SCM). Verifies code merged in SCM against issue tracking software and release reports to ensure all items in SCM release branches are tested and approved before release to production.

    • Owns and plans coordination of all phases involved in the release of a system update.

    • Expedites any breaking fix release to production while coordinating with QA, Dev, and App Support, ensuring that code has been properly merged in SCM, tested, and approved minimizing release risk to meet customer expectations.

    • Communicates with QA and Dev regarding issues to be reverted from SCM release branches or issues that do not have QA fully engaged. In collaboration with Dev & QA identify release priority, conflicts and dependency. Communicate risks to leadership for approval.

    • Verifies release approval from QA inactive production server testing (regression, hotfix approval, etc.) in a timely manner for daily release to production. Participate in pre-release meetings and release post-mortem with release team to improve and facilitate release processes and breaking fixes.

    • Authorizes production server switches, effectively updating the client-facing code.

    • Troubleshoots release by watching tickets for significant trends or critical breaking issues prior to approving the start of the next release. Advises leadership of risks associated with start of next release due to critical issues.

    • Document release processes and participate in process change/improvement discussion and planning. Answer questions regarding release process from QA, Dev, and App Support utilizing issue tracking software, SCM, and release orchestration tools and notifications .

    Qualifications

    Education/Certification:

    • Bachelor's degree

    Experience:

    • 2+ years working within a software development lifecycle that has a steady stream of production deployments and working with software development project tracking software.

    Skills/Abilities:

    • Communication, Attention to detail, Ability to follow process

    Education/Certification:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems

    Experience:

    • Knowledge or use of source code management and release orchestration tools, project management, coordination of cross functional teams

    Skills/Abilities:

    • Excel, Source code management
