Research Engineer - IVI/Connectivity Software
Job Description & Qualifications:
We are seeking a self-driven and creative individual to join Ford's Research and Advanced engineering team; someone who is interested in the field of mobility research to help create, champion and deliver smarter vehicles for a smart world. These future vehicles will need a wide range of computing capabilities in areas such as connectivity, machine learning, sensor processing and image processing.
Responsible for delivering innovative software to facilitate the integration and development of an in-vehicle research platform
Have flexibility and the ability to solve problems independently, while collaborating with a functionally diverse team
Responsible for writing and developing code
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related degree
2+ years of experience with Object Oriented Programming using C++ 2+ years of experience with Agile software development, reviewing code and/or Continuous Integration (CI)
Master's Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related degree
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
A combination of 2 or more of the following points would be preferred
5+ years of experience with Object Oriented Programming using C++ 3+ years of experience developing user experiences with Qt/QML
3+ years of experience developing and contributing to Qt's codebase
3+ years of experience working with 3rd party IVI SDKs or engines (Nav, Voice, Media, etc.)
3+ years of experience integrating or fusing sensor data (GPS, IMU, Bluetooth, WiFi, Camera)
3+ years of experience developing In-vehicle Infotainment (IVI) features (one or more of the following)
Navigation engines and processing
Voice user interface development
Software update strategies
3+ years of experience developing multi-device or front-end + back-end web applications (one or more of the following)
HTML5 UX development (preferably w/ React)
Interoperability with mobile devices
Development of reusable/flexible HMI
Cellular/Wi-Fi/Cloud hybrid application design/architecture
