  • Job Duties::

    As a Research Scientist working on the Portable NDT (Non -Destructive Testing) team, you will be empowered and inspired to do your best work. You will contribute to our mission by exploring new approaches to solutions meeting customers problems, providing proof of concept demonstrations, and validating solutions. In a typical day, you will: evaluate and develop methods to meet inspection needs which may include developing new techniques or signal processing methods. You may also be involved in validating and maturing new technologies that will enhance our portfolio. In a typical day, you will:

    • Developing a deep understanding of the operation, applications and technical design of Olympus NDT instruments and accessories

    • Maintain responsibility for the development of new applications and solutions for various NDT modalities including but not limited to Eddy Current, Ultrasound, Phased Array and Guided Waves.

    *Research, collect and report information for validation of existing company product, competing products or new technology.

    • Contribute to development projects through feasibility studies of methods with documentation that lead to solutions or a better understanding of a technology as it relates to the market.

    • Act as a technical liaison with other departments as it relates to applications or technological issues.

    • Collaborate with multiple business departments, including global business centers, global sales representatives, NDT business development managers, engineering, commercial operations, and marketing/communications to complete tasks.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements::

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree, engineering, physics or material sciences.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • PHD a plus

    • Minimum 2 years' work experience preferred

    _*_ Computer Languages knowledge an asset (MATLAB, LABVIEW, C++).

    • DSP Signal processing.

    • Electromagnetic & wave propagation theory preferred.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Ability to thrive in an international business environment.

    • Ability to work as an individual or in a team setting.

The incumbent researches, collects and reports information for validation of existing company product, competing products or new technology. The incumbent acts as a technical liaison with other departments as it relates to applications or technological issues. The successful candidate should be self-motivated, results oriented, have good technical writing skills with ability to work in a team environment.
