    Job Summary and Qualifications

    The Senior Clinical Analyst will fulfill the key function of understanding source systems, primarily the electronic health record, and the availability of pertinent clinical data for clinical reporting and quality initiatives within HCA Healthcare's Clinical Services Group (CSG). This role will work closely with the Program Managers of chart abstracted and eCQM measures to support these programs as directed.

    The Senior Clinical Analyst will curate and maintain documentation and educational materials for chart abstracted and eCQM measures, in alignment with specifications of the respective governing organizations. This role will also work closely with clinical subject matter experts and the Senior Business Analyst to document the most appropriate source for clinical metrics.

    The Senior Clinical Analyst should demonstrate an understanding for the complexities and interactions of clinician workflow, healthcare IT systems, interfaces and mappings to electronic data warehouse. This role should practice attentive listening, and display empathy towards others' ideas and perspectives. Additionally, this role must understand and be able to clearly communicate nuances and variations in workflow that may impact data quality and availability.

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    -Apply health-related, discipline-specific knowledge (e.g. clinical care, healthcare operations) to health information technology systems.

    -Maintain knowledge and engagement in national and international standards for clinical documentation and terminology to enable interoperability.

    -Cross-coordinate with other HCA solutions or projects, and work with other analysts/specialists/coordinators, leadership, and stakeholders.

    -Actively participate in multiple activities and tasks simultaneously.

    -Adapt to a rapidly changing environment.

    -Ensure the HCA Mission and values are the cornerstone of work efforts, and delivered through a servant leadership model.

    PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMS (CORE MEASURES AND ECQMS) - 75%

    -Manage, track, and document specifications for external reporting programs, including CMS and Joint Commission pay for reporting and electronic quality programs.

    -Assist with monitoring and follow up to ensure facilities meet regulatory deadlines including Clinical Data Abstraction Center (CDAC) hospital medical record requests, CMS's random-selection and/or targeted-selection groups and completion of quarterly tasks identified on the COMET calendar.

    -Responsible for analysis and impact of outcomes, and engaging in the process of knowledge discovery.

    -Responsible for escalation of issues identified that may impact the expected outcomes, plan, clinical workflow processes, or integrity of reporting.

    -Work with ITG Product Development, Quality Measures team, and CSG SMEs to assure end-user education and communication to the field is well documented.

    -Provide continual operational support to application users, division and facility leadership, which involves assisting in troubleshooting issues when necessary and in a timely manner.

    -Support review of all chart abstracted measure purge requests and data corrections submitted by COMET abstractors, obtaining documentation as needed (Coding Summaries, Meditech screenshots, etc.) and approving or rejecting these requests before the stated quarterly deadline.

    -Collaborate with the program lead and serve as the back-up for the review and related approval/rejection of hCQM purge requests.

    -Support QualityNet admin responsibilities as needed.

    CLINICAL QUALITY MEASURES (BUSINESS ANALYSIS) - 25%

    -Create/support clinical and technical workflow analysis and mapping.

    -Serve as Subject Matter Expert on any requests for EHR content, context and mappings.

    -Document metric or project requirements as needed.

    -Facilitate collaboration across the Analytics Products team to support project development.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    -Three to five years of clinical informatics or analytics experience

    -Previous Meditech analyst experience preferred

    -Previous experience with tracking and reporting quality measures preferred

    -Experience caring for the inpatient population, hospital operations, and/or clinical informatics

    -Manage multiple tasks with multiple owners at one time

    -Proficient at Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point

    -High degree of flexibility required

    -Strong organizational skills

    -Ability to work and participate in a collaborative team environment within and across departments

    -Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

    -Strong analysis, problem solving, and critical thinking skills
