Senior Network Engineer

Description

LMU wants an experienced Cisco Certified Network Engineer to join their dynamic team. As a level engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting and maintaining their enterprise network infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of their network, with a focus on routing, switching, firewall and VPN, wireless and Data Center technologies. You will be the most person on the team so looking for someone comfortable wearing many hats.

Responsibilities: (looking for candidates who have experience in as many of these areas as possible but not expected they'd be doing all of this right away.)

1. Routing & Switching:

a. Deploy and configure Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points to meet business requirements.

b. Configure and troubleshoot BGP, OSPF, EIGRP to optimize network routing and scalability.

c. Implement VLANs, spanning-tree protocols, and Quality of Service (QoS) policies to optimize network performance.

1. Wireless Networking:

a. Deploy Cisco wireless networks, including access points, controllers, and mobility services.

b. Perform site surveys, RF optimization, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal wireless coverage and performance.

1. Firewall and VPN:

a. Manage and maintain firewalls and VPN concentrators to ensure network security and remote access capabilities. They, not InfoSec, make a lot of changes to their Palo Alto firewalls on the regular.

b. Configure site-to-site and remote access VPNs using IPSec and SSL technologies.

1. Data Center:

a. Configure and maintain data center network technologies, including Virtual Port Channels (VPC), Fabric Extenders (FEX), and Fabric Interconnects.

b. Ensure high availability and performance of data center network infrastructure to meet business requirements.

1. Network Monitoring:

a. Utilize SolarWinds and DNAC for network monitoring, performance analysis, and proactive issue identification and resolution.

b. Utilize Wireshark protocol analyzers to capture and analyze network traffic for troubleshooting, performance optimization, and security monitoring.

c. Utilize Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) for network access control, authentication, and authorization.

d. Generate reports and analyze network metrics to ensure network health and compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).

1. Network Security:

a. Implement and maintain network security policies, including access control lists (ACLs), intrusion prevention systems (IPS), and network segmentation.

1. Automation and Scripting:

a. Develop automation scripts using Python to streamline network operations, configuration management, and monitoring tasks.

b. Implement network automation solutions using Cisco DNAC

1. Configuration Management:

a. Implement configuration changes and updates to network devices in accordance with change management policies and procedures.

b. Ensure network configurations are accurately documented and maintained for compliance and audit purposes.

1. Collaboration and Support:

a. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, security specialists, and application developers, to support network infrastructure requirements.

b. Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to resolve network-related issues and incidents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.

• CCNP certification is required; CCIE certification is a plus.

• Minimum six years' experience in network engineering, demonstrating a proven track record of advancing responsibilities throughout their career

• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with routing and switching, firewall and VPN, and wireless networking.

• Hands-on experience with data center technologies.

• Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP)

• Experience using protocol analyzers for network traffic analysis and troubleshooting. (LMU using Wireshark)

• Experience with network monitoring tools (LMU using SolarWinds and Cisco DNAC)

• Willing to work on level 1, 2 and 3 tickets.

Proficiency in Python scripting for network automation and orchestration is a plus.
