Senior Oracle Database Administrator

Description

TEKsystems has a short term need for a Sr Oracle DBA while their main Oracle DBA is out for an extended period of time. Estimated 6-8 weeks

TEKsystems has a team of multiple Oracle DBA's and SQL DBA's supporting their on prem databases and cloud environments, but their main gap is on the Oracle support side. They need an experienced person to come in to provide stability and drive solutions without being guided. It is a complex environment and need someone to hit the ground running since it is a shorter term project. They do not need this person to provide any major enhancements or improvements for the time being. They've had an issue in the past with consultants coming in and making changes without getting the approval, which lead to some major issues. They need to make sure this person communicates and collaborates well with leadership and other team members, and keep them in the loop on what tasks they are working on. One of their main goals is to move to more of an Agile environment.

• They are mainly on Oracle 19c - they have a couple of system on 11c and 12c.

• Prefer someone with Linux Redhat and AWS experience as well - Majority of their applications are on Oracle running on Redhat or AWS.

• They also have a couple applications running on AIX, but looking to migrate those off to Linux Redhat.

• SQL Knowledge is helpful, but mainly need Oracle.

• 2 Critical Applications - Blue Yonder and Manhattan - Both run on AWS.

• Team of 4-5 Oracle DBA's, 4+ SQL DBA's, HANA Admins, Terradata Admins.

• They partner with Infosys (MSP) for their infrastructure and DBA support.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

We don't need a unicorn, but we do need someone that is going to be proficient and skilled enough to drive solutions, follow our standards and processes, and communicate well within a team setting (i.e. - not working in a silo on their own, doing work after hours without communicating, etc.). We wont have the bandwidth to train them on all the skills necessary to be a DBA - we need them to be able to hit the ground running.
