  • We have an exceptional opportunity for a full time direct hire Senior Process Engineer for a well-established chemical company located in Houston, TX.

    Job Title: Senior Process Engineer

    Location: Houston, TX

    General Responsibilities:

    This senior technical leadership position reports to the VP of Technology and Operations and will be responsible for mentoring junior technical personnel in the engineering and technology department while serving as the PSM Process Technology Leader. This role will be responsible for performing engineering studies, process design, the ability to troubleshoot systems to improve PSM/safety, throughput, efficiencies, quality, costs, lead process engineering for capital projects, and provide daily operations support.

    • This position is responsible for key Process Safety Management (PSM) program elements, process safety and improvement, process development, and provides technical assistance to operations to improve safety, productivity, and uptime.

    • Serve as a PSM Element Leader for Process Safety Information (PSI), Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) and support Management of Change-Technology. Knowledgeable to facilitate and lead annual PHA's.

    • Strengthen waste minimization, engineering controls, operating conditions, and quality improvements. The senior process leader is familiar with the end-uses of the products produced by the process.

    • Initiates MOC Changes of Design (COD) packages to improve the safety, quality, yields, utility, and production capability of the operating areas.

    • Periodically perform experimental operating instructions (EOI's) on the process to test and improve the safety, environment, quality, and reliability performance.

    • Assist and interface with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Capital, Safety and Environmental to identify and implement best practices to improve production rates, quality, reliability and EHS performance.

    • Serve as the process lead for capital projects and provide basic data, scope of work, and budget to ensure equipment is designed and specified correctly and meets process requirements at the highest uptime and lowest life cycle cost. Coordinate process scope with EPC companies for larger projects.

    • Provide process support and commissioning plans for new or modified facilities.

    • Expert troubleshooting skills: the ability to analyze plant operations and data; apply process knowledge and identify root causes to various operational issues.

    • Recognize when the process is not in control and understand steps needed to address recovery steps.

    • Develop Technology Standards and maintain technical documentation.

    • Assist Operations and Maintenance with troubleshooting equipment failures and root cause analysis.

    • Provide shift or weekend coverage for project start-ups and annual Turnarounds or non-routine events.

    Requirements:

    • Industrial/chemical plant manufacturing experience in highly hazardous processes, with progressively more responsibility and accountability over time.

    • Degree in Chemical Engineering.

    • Strong analytical and process problem solving skills.

    • Fundamental understanding of all PSM elements.

    • Experience in granulated fertilizers manufacturing facilities is a plus.

    • Demonstrated strong leadership and teamwork abilities.

    • Self-motivated leader that is proactive with a strong sense of urgency toward improvement

    • A hands-on visible leader that seeks engagement and involvement of employees

    • Results driven - - Routinely uses goals, objectives, and metrics to track and achieve results.
