    Do you love codifying threat intelligence analysis tradecraft into repeatable, machine-driven processes? Do you understand the importance of effective data and analytical models in a large-scale Intelligence Production lifecycle? Do you have experience performing analysis on a graph or hypergraph-based intelligence analysis platform? The Microsoft Threat Intelligence Center (MSTIC) is looking for a Senior Security Engineer with experience utilizing Synapse (by the Vertex Project) who will empower MSTIC to harness the power of graph technology to discover, track, and disrupt the world's most dangerous cyber threats.

    Responsibilities

    • Help MSTIC harness the power of Vertex's Synapse platform by enabling analysts by building workflows, extending the analytical model, applying appropriate controls, and create needed data integrations.

    • Integrate new data sources into MSTIC's intelligence systems to expand MSTIC's global threat visibility.

    • Understand the workflows of MSTIC's various threat analysis teams well enough to create automations which codify their tradecraft into scalable, repeatable processes.

    • Collaborate with other threat analysts, data analysts, engineers, and researchers to share graph-based analysis knowledge, best practices, and feedback.

    • Contribute to relevant MSFT efforts to design, build, or improve graph based threat hunting experiences.

    Qualifications

    Required/Minimum Qualifications

    • 5+ years experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, modeling, cybersecurity, and/or anomaly detection

    • OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field.

    • Experience utilizing & extending Synapse by the Vertex Project (or equivalent) to discover, track, and disrupt sophisticated cyber threat actors.

    • Experience with defining and extending data and analytical models for the cyber threat domain.

    Other Requirements:

    • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:?Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

    Additional or Preferred Qualifications

    • 6+ years experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, modeling, cybersecurity, and/or anomaly detection

    • OR Doctorate in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field

    • Proficient in KQL (or equivalent) and at least one scripting language, such as Python

    • Experience with cloud-based data platforms and services, such as those offered by Azure.

    • Understanding of cyber security concepts, such as threat actors, attack vectors, indicators of compromise, etc.

    • Communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

    Security Research IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
