    Hybrid - This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Tech Center three times per week, at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business.

    The Role:

    Are you interested in being a part of a team that is redefining how we interact with our vehicles today? Our Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) is reimagining our vehicle intelligence platform. This Ultifi Platform and Services, will help enable the frequent and seamless delivery of software-defined Platform, Services and Applications to customers over the air. It offers the potential for more cloud-based services, faster software development/deployment and new business opportunities to increase customer loyalty.

    Our SDV team has an opening for a Senior Platform System Engineer - Ultifi Platform to do system definition/requirements, design, and proof of concept coding for the Ultifi Platform and Services. This engineer will have the chance to work at the intersection of System, Design, Software, and Testing while having a hand in the early stages of GM`s next generation vehicles! You will be collaborating with multi-functional teams in Design, Product, Engineering, Program and Business.

    Job Description:

    • Define and Lead system design strategy for highly sophisticated platform features, that includes the Vehicle, Cloud and Mobile

    • Define and Lead End 2 End (E2E) System Requirements for the product

    • Define component level requirements and interfaces for the Ultifi platform product

    • Lead and Drive Non-Functional Requirements and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in the product

    • Perform comprehensive software architecture analysis of the features. Present the trade-off in the leadership meetings.

    • Apply solid technical understanding, critical reasoning, and a structured approach to solving problems in both familiar and unfamiliar domains

    • Analyze and negotiate requirements with internal and external partners, trace their implementation throughout the lifecycle

    • Develop requirements as feature files using Behavior Driven Development (BDD) approach, Gherkin syntax

    • Develop System Software Design using UML

    • Lead FMEA and the allocation of identified failure modes rolldown to software teams

    • Provide technical leadership to software execution teams for development, integration and testing the product features

    • Provide project management support by helping the product and program management team to break down the customer centric features to software development features, story and tasks

    Additional Job Description

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Physics, Math, Computer Science, or related technical degree

    • Minimum of 3-5 years of engineering experience within electronic module System Engineering, Software Engineering, Software Architecture, Vehicle Architecture, Software development, Cloud technologies, Vehicle-cloud communication, Android platform and Linux Platform

    • Minimum 1-2 years of software development using C, C++, Java, Rust in Android, QNX, Linux, RTOS

    • Understanding of various Automotive Domains such as Infotainment, ADAS, and Telematics, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure and AWS

    • Balance multiple priorities while maintaining a dedication to the tasks at hand

    • Ability to identify problems, analyze varying courses of action to resolve, recommend and negotiate efficient solutions and implement contingency plans

    • Ability to process a large amount of information flow, identify multiple parameters, inter dependencies and inconsistencies to provide both high-level systems overview and deep domain expertise

    • Strong technical and non-technical communication skills

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master's degree in Engineering

    • Experience in writing Gherkin Feature Files as Requirements for ECUs

    • Experience in doing software system design

    • Working knowledge of service-oriented architecture, cloud native architecture, distributed communication framework

    • Experience in performing system and component level DFMEAs

    • Familiarity with safety critical systems/components development

    • Experience in automotive product release and system software specification process
