  • Description

    The Senior Technical Consultant will provide industry leading expertise to complex projects. This position will provide project technical oversight, technical expertise and the execution of technical design solutions. This subject matter expert will provide solutions and technologies by providing consulting services for a diverse portfolio of clients.

    • Design utility-grade Private LTE networks, demonstrating practical EPC deployment and design experience.

    • Deploy 4G EPC and 5GC core networks, incorporating utility-grade security platforms.

    • Provide high-level design for IMS and Mission-Critical Push to Talk (MC-PTT) interfaces.

    • Possess in-depth knowledge of 5G cloud core and service-based architecture, including network slicing, containerized microservices, and control/user plane separation.

    • Manage solution lifecycle projections and engage in customer-facing, highly technical roles, customizing designs based on client needs.Manage client requests and offer guidance in the understanding and execution of complex, non-traditional systems.

    • Compile, implement and validate internal standards and technical specifications related to the area(s) of expertise.

    • Manage key pursuits in chosen area(s) of technology.

    • Manage relationships with existing clients, customers and contractors and develop new business opportunities.

    • Approve go/no-go decisions for specific pursuits in chosen area(s) of technology.

    • Direct proposal efforts and requests for qualifications to obtain consulting assignments in chosen area(s) of technology to achieve stated targets and budgets and standards for financial performance. Present project budgets and estimates.

    • Present to technical societies related to the area(s) of expertise by working group membership, development of industry standards and publishing and presenting technical papers.

    • Develop and deliver training classes to share technical knowledge and expertise.

    • Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to staff.

    • Ensure compliance with company site safety policies.

    • All other duties as assigned.

    • Serve as Technical Authority for LTE EPC/5GC, overseeing design and technical delivery.

    • Contribute to High-Level System Designs across 4G/5G Voice and Data Core.

    • Work with local and outsourced vendors, ensuring design deliveries for LTE EPC/5GC.

    • Validate and create EPC architecture and engineering requirements, conduct impact assessments, and define design standards.

    • Assist in the development, testing, and implementation of advanced data core features.

    • Define engineering and planning rules for MME, SGW, and PGW.

    • Analyze requirements, convert them into system requirements, and capture detailed designs.

    • Make independent decisions on core network design, security policies, and procedures.

    • Develop, define, and refine processes and procedures for network changes impacting core network equipment.

    • Participate in negotiations with vendors for new equipment and services on behalf of clients.

    • Coordinate with program and project management to keep projects on track and within budget.

    • Develop, maintain, and provide risk assessment tools/techniques.

    • Identify, write, and present Private 4G/5G Architecture Strategies and technical papers, white papers, and presentations for internal and external use.

    • Mentor and provide technical guidance and leadership to junior staff members.

    • Responsible for participating in and leading the solution architecture portion of sales pursuits and proposal development.

    • Troubleshoot and analyze issues reported from customer labs and production.

    • Provide technical support, translating complex technical considerations between vendor and utility teams.

    • Manage engineering design, implementation, and second-level support of the LTE 4G/5G core network.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering. The Engineering degree shall be appropriately aligned with the chosen area(s) of expertise. and 7 years of applicable experience Required or

    • Master's degree in engineering. The Engineering degree shall be appropriately aligned with the chosen area(s) of expertise. and 6 years of applicable experience Required or

    • PhD in Engineering. The Engineering degree shall be appropriately aligned with the chosen area(s) of expertise. and 4 years of applicable experience

    • Applicable experience being in 4G/5G Evolved Packet Core Network system design.

    • Technical expertise in the overall wireless LTE networks, EPC, and security design.

    • Thorough knowledge of operations and maintenance of mobile carrier 4G/5G equipment.

    • Thorough Understanding of: APN controls, UE attachment process, LTE signaling, 4G/5G Network Functions

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Proficiency in creating professional-quality PowerPoint presentations.

    • Professional Engineer registration preferred.

    • Recognized internally and externally as a technical resource for a process, equipment or technology.

    • Demonstrated network of external colleagues and vendors within their chosen area(s) of expertise.

    • Expert computer skills using industry relevant software.

    • Expert facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management and clients.

    • Capable of independently solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.

    • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with existing clients and develop business opportunities with new and existing clients.

    • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with equipment vendors.

    • Ability to establish effective working relationships with contractors, co-workers, and other professionals.

    • The ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.
