    The Health & Life Sciences (H&LS) Product Design Operations team is looking for a Senior UX Engineer with design chops or demonstrated design sensibilities with a passion for high-fidelity interactions. This role works in a people-centric and culture-first collaborative environment alongside UI/UX (user interface/user experience) designers, researchers, product designers, engineers, strategists, and writers to design and implement modern experiences for the world tomorrow supported by thoughtful and intentional technology tomorrow.     Responsibilities

    Y ou are :

    A talented and self-driven UX Engineer who's passionate about how design comes to life but knows how leverage our mixed discipline by making designs accessible, performant, reusable, and ultimately scalable. You are a thoughtful and inclusive collaborator who is able to bring folks along in the pursuit of product excellence, and bridge and fill in gaps between design and engineering.

    You are a systems thinker who can transform designs into intuitive, interactive experiences, able to rapidly learn new tools and technologies and not afraid to explore the unknown. You understand and value the design process and know how to merge that knowledge with established development processes. These processes may include building and maintaining tools and platforms to enable efficiencies across teams.

    You are a proactive communicator who is able to collaborate well with other others, especially by leveraging their work, or contributing to the success of others. Striving to achieve a high bar for craft and quality, you are often seeking out feedback for ways to improve the product design process. You listen and care about customer needs and can integrate customer feedback in order to create inclusive and accessible experiences that people love.

    We are looking for a candidate who can solve complex end-to-end problems - whether technically or across stakeholders - with solutions that seem simple and elegant on the surface but require a deep knowledge of engineering principles. You are able to identify needs that are not spoken, and include them in our processes.

    Responsibilities:

    • Partner with our Design System team to help ensure design excellence in our process and workflows

    • Turn designs into accessible, performant, and shippable production code while partnering and iterating to make them delightful our users

    • Offer constructive feedback in the design and engineering process followed by creative and effective solutions

    • Communicate to stakeholders when technology constraints require design or engineering compromises

    • Follow best practices and provide code review feedback to your peers

    • Collaborate with others to bring ideas to life and create prototypes that convey experience intentions when static comps can't tell the whole story

    • Communicate clearly and concisely with stakeholders

    • Partner and collaborate with our Fluent UI Design and Engineering counterparts

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Graphic Design, Product Design, Visual Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 4+ years experience working in product or service design and/or shipping production code

    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Graphic Design, Product Design, Visual Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 3+ years experience working in product or service design and/or shipping production code

    • OR equivalent experience.

    • 4+ years of engineering experience working with front-end technologies such as but no limited to HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript

    Other Requirements:

    Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

    • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

    Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Graphic Design, Product Design, Visual Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 8+ years experience working in product or service design and/or shipping production code

    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Graphic Design, Product Design, Visual Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 6+ years experience working in product or service design and/or shipping production code

    • OR equivalent experience.

    • 5+ years of engineering experience working with front-end technologies such as but no limited to HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript

    • 4+ years experience shipping production-ready code as a result of a collaborative process.

    • GitHub or other links showcasing your development skills OR a UI/UX portfolio is required

    • Comfortable working through ambiguity and competing priorities

    • Ability to collaborate and work effectively cross functionally with other teams (Design, Research, Engineering, PM)

    • Demonstrated attention to detail, with the ability to match redlines and design specs

    • Experience working with HTML custom elements or Web Component libraries (lit, FAST, etc)

    • Passion for invention, human-computer interaction, and seamless user experiences

    • Previous experience or knowledge in the design systems space

    • Working knowledge of visual design tools such as Figma

    • Experience working with a multi-disciplinary team of designers and developers

    • An interest in web-standards, technology, and trends, with an eye toward the future

    UX Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
