    Job Summary

    We are currently seeking a Software Developer - Journeyman to support product development, sustainment, integration and modernization for Department of Homeland Security equipment used at border crossings and airports. This position is located in Sterling, VA .

    In this position, the successful candidate will:

    • Design and develop new software, support diverse business systems and processes of limited scope.

    • Translates user requirements into concepts and implements functional code for information systems solutions.

    Responsibilities

    • Develops, modifies, debugs and evaluates programs for assigned functional areas.

    • Analyzes existing programs and formulates logic for new systems. Formulates logic, prepares flowcharting, performs coding and tests/debugs/troubleshoots programs.

    • Develops conversion and system implementation plans.

    • Prepares and obtains approval of system and programming documentation.

    • Recommends changes in development maintenance and system standards.

    • -Reviews system requirements and business processes.

    • Maintains current knowledge and skills on relevant topics and technologies. Includes pursuing/maintaining technical certifications, as appropriate.

    • Implements use cases and designs for security, ease of use, errors and fault conditions, remote diagnostics and ease of maintenance.

    • Participates in, reviews and prepares material for code reviews and design reviews, interface documents, requirements documents.

    • Develops test procedures, collects data and conducts integrated testing.

    • Follows safety, security, quality, configuration management and operating policies and procedures.

    • Develops operating and maintenance instructions.

    Key Qualifications

    • ?Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems with 2 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field.

    • Significant experience analyzing data and writing reports using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

    • Candidates should be highly motivated self-starters with a strong desire to learn.

    • Strong oral and written communication skills.

    • Eligibility and willingness to obtain a Secret Clearance and DHS Suitability.

    • Must be US Citizen

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in one or more of the following technologies: License Plate Reader (LPR), Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems, digital signage, kiosks, biometrics, mobile technologies, artificial intelligence, IoT, Wireless communications, imaging systems, camera analytics, non-intrusive inspection equipment.

    • Agile development process.

    • Active Secret Clearance.

    • Active DHS or CBP Suitability.
