    Manager, Software Development

    This role is available on the OCI Data Science service. We are addressing exciting challenges at the intersection of data science and cutting-edge infrastructure. We are building a cloud service for data scientists, machine learning engineers and software engineers to help them every step of the way in their machine learning development and deployment lifecycle. Our product vision includes interactive notebooks, distributed machine learning on CPU/GPU supporting wide variety of ML algorithms/libraries, scalable model serving and robust monitoring and analytics of ML models.

    What You'll Do

    • Lead a team covering a small feature area within a service. Influence design, delivery, and operations.

    • Participates in roadmap planning, talent review, and goal setting. Recruits for their team and develops junior-to-mid- level ICs.

    • Provide valuable input to the technology strategy, infrastructure and architecture vision that supports the successful execution of the product roadmap and business strategy

    • Allocate resources, set priorities, and manage schedules for the team

    • Regularly present development progress and service health statistics to upper management

    • Provide career management and mentorship to your team of engineers

    • Inspire a culture of "Always On" Service Operations, including leading and participating in a 24x7x365 service operations on-call rotation

    Qualifications

    • Strong technical understanding in building scalable, high performance services

    • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills including the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to different audiences.

    • Working knowledge of Cloud computing

    • 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience* BS or MS in Computer Science or related technical field

    • Prior public cloud service development and operations experience is a significant plus

    • AI / ML experience or demonstrated interest is a plus

    Responsibilities

    As a manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and occasionally suggest improvements to the architecture.

    US: Hiring Range: from $79,700 to $223,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

    Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.

    Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

    8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
