    This position works out of our Columbus Plant location in the Abbott Nutrition division. Our Nutrition business develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages, from helping babies and children grow to keeping adult bodies strong and active.     What you'll work on:

    The primary objectives of the Sr. Quality Engineer are to review RCE's to assure adequate funding to address GMP and potential product hazards contribute to development of appropriate process designs and validation protocols, assist in execution of validation protocols, support initial start-up production after engineering changes and/ or after producing new products and perform product assurance reviews and identify key quality issues and assure their resolution. Provide Quality Assurance input to the change control program and incorporate Division Quality Assurance standards into working manufacturing procedures. Assist in problem identification and resolution on all Quality Assurance projects.

    Major Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system .

    • Provides Quality Assurance design review support to plant projects initiated by R.C.E. or other means.

    • Assures that the plant validation program is executed consistently with the Abbott Validation Policies.

    • Coordinates the introduction to the plant of new products, processes, and packages.

    • Develops Master Work Orders, plant procedures and Deviations as necessary in support of plant projects, new processes, and new packages.

    • Performs Plant Quality Assurance functions required by the Instrument Calibration Policy.

    • Performs process capability studies on process equipment.

    • Analyzes trends and recommend changes as necessary.

    • Assures that changes to plant utilities avoid backflow or other potential adulteration of product.

    • Implements productivity improvement projects, analyzes plant quality costs and material variances relevant to Quality Assurance. Implements SPC process and procedures throughout plant.

    • Performs GMP, water, backflow, hazard analysis and other quality and compliance audits as needed.

    • Performs training regarding new technologies, policies and procedures.

    Education and Experience You'll Bring:

    • Required: Bachelor's Degree; Engineering or Food Science Preferred.

    • Individual needs to communicate effectively with people in Engineering, Manufacturing, Research and Development, and vendors.

    • Solid technical foundation is critical to success.

    • Three years of relevant experience in Quality Assurance, Manufacturing or Engineering. Experience and demonstrated competency in process validation required. The A.S.Q. Certified Quality Engineering Certificate may substitute for part of the experience requirement.

    • Application of knowledge in multiple disciplines, such as food science, microbiology, mechanical engineering etc. to solve such problems as cause and correction of poor product stability, microbial spoilage, packaging defects, etc.

    • Given the multiplicity of processes under validation, the individual must be able to use sound technical judgment in reaching valid conclusions that will be regularly audited by Division and Corporate Auditors.

    • Documentation skills must be such that logic to the conclusions is easily followed.

    • Needs to be able to identify many alternative solutions to quality issues related to new/revised designs.

    • Ability to apply appropriate statistical methods to better under and improve plant equipment and processes, evaluate new or changed equipment or processes and resolve quality problems.

    Preferred

    • Master's degree desired.

    The base pay for this position is $72,700.00 - $145,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
