The SSD Thermal Mechanical Engineer expert will be responsible for developing thermal models of SOCs, DRAM, NAND - in turn develop thermal models of performance optimized SSD products utilizing the key components. You will have a background working from the silicon die to the server system level. A successful candidate will possess deep technical knowledge and experience on methodologies and experimentation to validate thermal models and characterize system level thermals.

You will design, implement, and document thermal mechanical designs. In a fast pace environment, you will demonstrate your ability to prioritize engineering decisions, balance multiple projects simultaneously, work cross-functionally, collaborate with internal partners and drive to closure. The primary focus will be on project engineering which will include design, research, prototyping, product improvements, process improvements and engineering documentation. You will manage all project technical activities aiming at assuring customer focused project accuracy and quality, from concept thru high volume manufacture.
Study trade-offs of power levels and transient response in varied customer environments
Create thermal solutions and analyze current architectures and seek improvements to reduce the thermal burden and increase product performance
Work closely with product architecture and package engineering communities to deliver product level thermal solutions for SOC and Systems
Work on developing the system level thermal solution based on application requirements, package materials, and technology
Design product enclosures using appropriate manufacture method based on volume and cost targets
Mechanical modeling and testing of components, including shock and vibe, SJR, accelerated life stress
Design, implement and document all mechanical work from concept to NPI following best in class processes
Represent the mechanical team in all cross-discipline activities in problem solving or planning future products
Perform detailed tolerance analysis to ensure quality and ease of manufacture
Create and maintain detailed user documentation for customer consumption
Support, promote, and execute company initiatives
Provide timely customer service to both internal and external customers
Establish and maintain a teamwork culture through leadership, experience, positive attitude, inspiration, and training
Demonstrate a commitment to upholding the highest standards with on time delivery, and the quality of our products
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with 10 years' of meaningful mechanical design experience and 5+ years' work experience in thermal analysis, thermal heat sink design, CFD
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required

Ability to manage numerous projects and initiatives with varying priorities and vague input
Proven experience designing packaged electronic products for high volume manufacture
Strong mechanical engineering aptitude with demonstrated results in thermal management of high power electronics, making important design contributions
Strong analytical skills, including structural (FEA) and thermal modelling (CFD, FloTherm)
Expert in 3D CAD software, Solidworks, or equivalent tools
Lab experience attaching thermocouples, using wind tunnels, and thermal chambers
Strong DFM (design for manufacturing) skills required along with the ability to design products for manufacturing automation
Strong problem solving skills: identifying, isolating, and debugging issues and providing creative solutions
Detail oriented with solid documentation and reporting skills
Experience with statistical analysis, tools and techniques
Knowledge of DFMA principles
