Structural Design Engineer

We have an outstanding career opportunity for aStructural Design Engineerto join a leading Company. This is a remote position.

Salary Range: $95,000 - $110,000

The main responsibility is to assist with various field service requests. In this role, you will be solving field installation issues, creating repair sketches and reinforcement details as well as reviewing existing designs for new and/or revised loading conditions. Addressing the issues in a timely fashion is a key to success in this role. Depending on schedules, you will also be assisting with design activities on new projects.

Responsibilities :

• Responsible for field modifications, repair sketches (AutoCAD), and solving field problems including site visits

• Communicating with project managers, customers, and/or installation contractors in order to accurately assess and troubleshoot field issues

• Design components to ensure individual members and welds meet requirements of applicable specifications and codes (SJI, AISC, AWS, etc), or check those designs

• Design building components through the use of hand calculations or computer software, and a thorough understanding of the software

• Review contract documents and drafting work for completeness and proper depiction of special loading conditions

• Understanding of fabrication products and processes

• Provide technical support to design and shop order technicians

Basic Hiring Criteria :

• Formal education in Civil, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering; B.S. in Civil Engineering, Structural, or Architectural Engineering preferred

• Minimum 5 Years of experience in steel design experience

• Ability to read construction drawings

• Computer competency (Microsoft Office, Email, etc)

• Ability to work independently on a computer in a quiet setting

Desired Qualifications :

• Professional Engineer, or Engineer in Training on Track to Get Licensed

• Joist, deck, or building product experience

• Knowledge of Bluebeam or equivalent
