    Structural Engineer II - Decatur, IL OR Cedar Rapids, IA

    This is a full-time, exempt position.

    Position Summary:

    Independently performs most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected. Has appreciable latitude to work independently. Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects. Reports to the Structural Departmental Manager.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Design and analysis of heavy, multi-story Industrial Buildings (Structural Steel)

    • Equipment and building foundation analysis and design

    • Pipe bridge design

    • Equipment support design

    • Development of structural connection details (varies from typical to complex details)

    • New buildings and retrofit of buildings and or structures

    • Structural inspections and repairs (concrete & steel)

    • Pile and drilled shaft design

    • Storage tank design

    • Corrosion investigation

    • Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope

    • Performs work, which involves conventional engineering practices but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements

    • Work requires a broad knowledge of many types of industrial structures

    Expectations:

    • Direction is provided by Project Managers. Must coordinate the development of designs with CAD Operators in order to produce construction drawings

    • Provide effective and efficient designs

    Job Requirements:

    • 5+ years of professional experience as an engineer, specializing in any of the following:

    • Biodiesel

    • Ethanol

    • Co-Generation Power Plants

    • Corn Processing

    • Soy Processing

    • Milling

    • Vegetable Oil Refineries

    • Experience with the RISA suite of programs a plus, (AutoCAD / Revit - drafting performed by CAD Technicians)

    • Devises new approaches to problems encountered. Requires sufficient professional experience to assure competence as a Professional Engineer.

    • Candidates may qualify for the position if they possess design experience with:

    • Steel Manufacturing Buildings

    • Petrochemical Plants and Refinery Building Structures

    • Chemical Process Plant Buildings

    • BS Degree (minimum), with a major in any of the following:

    • Structural Engineering

    • Civil Engineering with Structural Emphasis

    • Agriculture & Architecture with Structural Emphasis

    • The following licensures are preferred, but not required:

    • Professional Engineering Registration (PE)

    • Structural Engineering Registration (SE)
