  • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Substation Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. As an Electrical Substation Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design, planning, and implementation of electrical substations, ensuring they meet technical specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

    As a Substation Design Engineer, a typical day might include the following:

    • Creating physical substation design packages for transmission & distribution utilities, generation facilities, and industrial clients

    • Creating design packages including one-lines, general arrangements, elevation views, conduit plans, and grounding plans

    • Performing site visits and scoping retrofit designs.

    • Applying customer-specific design templates for greenfield and brownfield projects

    • Demonstrating ownership of each component of the design process, and delivery of the overall package

    • Demonstrating understanding of substation equipment, grounding designs, and cable schedules

    This job might be for you if:

    • You have a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline.

    • You have the ability to work independently, accepting ownership of assigned responsibilities.

    • You are willing to travel as needed.

    • You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.

    • You have the ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.

    • You have experience in using substation design software tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Inventor, SDS - Substation Design Suite Physical, WinIGS, CDEGS, Cymcap or similar.

    • You have the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.

    Career Levels:

    Project Engineer II

    4+ years of experience with electrical power systems with a focus in substation design

    Project Engineer III

    8+ years of experience with electrical power systems with a focus in substation design

    Sr Project Engineer

    12+ years of experience with electrical power systems with a focus in substation design

    Pay Range Data

    Project Engineer I: $76,100 - $118,900 per year.

    Project Engineer II: $87,400 - $136,400 per year

    We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the salary range may differ if filled at a different level. Our salary ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
