    Job Summary

    The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for executing and expanding on key initiatives inside of the quality organization. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to be flexible in high-pressure situations. This role has primary focus on the quality performance of a diverse group of suppliers in commodities such as, electrical, mechanical, steel, rubber, and fabrication.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Participate in the Supplier Approval and Evaluation process

    • Perform Supplier Evaluations, evaluate supplier capabilities, review supplier documents in support becoming, or continuity as a GSE supplier

    • Review and support Supplier Deviation process

    • Work as a liaison between Engineering and Supplier to address specification and/or print questions

    • Supplier Quality systems, policies, and procedures

    • Supplier interface at company location or on-site at supplier's location

    • Supplier performance KPI's, tracking, and continual improvement

    • Corrective actions; internal and external

    • Kaizen /Continual improvement projects / rework and scrap reduction

    • Willingness to travel

    • Evaluate supplier rejections to determine appropriate actions and manage all phases of Supplier Corrective Actions

    • Plan and execute product and process related audits, drive preventative actions at the supplier's facility and minimize escapes

    • Execute product verification activities with suppliers such as FAI, Acceptance Test and Authorization

    • Analysis of quality data, tracking and reporting data, and capable of responding to data trends

    • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering and an emphasis on lean manufacturing and Quality Management Systems

    • 3-5 years of supplier quality experience

    • ASQ certification: CQE, CRE, CSQP, preferred

    Specialized Knowledge, Equipment, and Applications:

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

    • Experience interacting with cross functional teams including engineering, materials, logistics, sales & marketing

    • Experience working with application and validation of welding procedures, preferred

    • Demonstrated supplier management skills

    • Project management experience or similar skill set

    • Strong analytical and quantitative abilities. Proficient in Microsoft suite of tools. Experience executing data analytics using statistical software or MS Excel

    • Effective two-way communication and executive presentation skills

    • Business acumen

    • Experience using various quality methodologies: Lean, Six Sigma, 8-D, DFMEA, PPAP, etc.
