  • System Administrator is responsible for monitoring and maintaining systems to ensure availability to all users and controlling the status and performance of all system components. Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves problems affecting system performance such as: installing hardware and peripheral components, operating systems monitor/maintenance, system connectivity and user access to the network or system is maintained. Diagnoses, and resolves problems affecting computer and peripheral components such as monitors, scanners, and printers. Will be required to load and verify correct operation of software packages such as operating systems, Office applications, data applications; provide training and technical assistance to users as required and may make minor repairs on electrical components.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    • Applies conventional System Administration practices to develop, prepare and recommend system requirements.

    • Such duties require selection and adaptation/modification of a wide variety of technical knowledge and well-developed expertise integrating multiple systems within a networked domain environment.

    • Reviews problems of significant complexity and coordinating with internal and external agencies and vendors to resolve system operational problems.

    • Troubleshoots and repairs computer hardware, software and related peripherals.

    • Gathers and compiles IT data from data sheets, work orders, or other documentation.

    • Follows specific technical instructions for resolution of technical problems.

    • Performs tests on equipment or systems to troubleshooting and corrects basic equipment failures and corrects systems problems. Reviews proposed equipment or systems requests and determines appropriateness and feasibility of such requests.

    • Assists as required in compiling data related to system requirements, specifications, and equipment pertinent to optimizing system utilization.

    • Such duties will require applying basic technical knowledge to identify inconsistencies or gaps in system capabilities and recommend corrective measures.

    • Assists internal customers as needed to gather and coordinate the utilization of systems and software capabilities to generate reports or other technical documents. Operate and communicate within IT ticketing system.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • CompTIA A+ Certification and/or 2 years equivalent work experience in IT field.

    • Ability to obtain CompTIA Security+ Certification (within 12 months).

    • Possess demonstrated skills in knowledge and technical competence in the management of systems, networks, hardware and software.

    • Possess basic knowledge of enterprise or desktop printer management.

    • Possess basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and management.

    • Possess basic knowledge of an enterprise domain environment.

    • Must qualify and maintain US Government TS/SCI level security clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to obtain US Government security clearance.

    • Must possess a current state issued driver's license.

    Preferred:

    • CompTIA A+ Certification.

    • CompTIA Network+ Certification.

    • CompTIA Security+ Certification. 2 years equivalent work experience in Information Technology field.

    • Possess demonstrated skills in knowledge and technical competence in the management of systems, networks, hardware and software.

    • Possess entry level knowledge of enterprise or desktop printer management.

    • Possess entry level knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and management.

    • Possess entry level knowledge of an enterprise domain environment.

    Work Environment:

    Individual will perform most of his/her functions within an IT Infrastructure Team environment onsite where systems are located. Individual is expected to work within a team environment and communicate effectively. Light travel might be required between different site locations throughout the city. Normal office conditions exist for majority of the time, however the position requires walking, bending, stooping, lifting up to 40 pounds and minimal climbing to retrieve supplies. Work is occasionally performed in proximity to electrical circuits of varying voltages.
