    Job Description

    Summary/Objective

    The System Administrator (SA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that systems hardware, operating systems, software systems, networks, and related procedures adhere to organizational values.

    Operations and Support

    • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, networks, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.

    • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.

    • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.

    • Perform help desk tasks in creation, maintenance, and completion.

    • Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.

    • Troubleshoot and remedy hardware, network, or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.

    Systems Maintenance

    • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.

    • Maintain operational, configuration, and systems procedures.

    • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.

    • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones (desktop and mobile), and multi-function devices (printer/copier/scanner).

    Job Requirements

    Required Education and Experience

    • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent on-the-job experience

    • Four to six years system administration experience.

    • Microsoft 365 (Office, Teams, SharePoint, Intune, etc.)

    • Intermediate Networking Concepts/Troubleshooting

    • Nimble/Pure

    Familiarity with the above technologies is desired. Proficiency is not expected, but candidates who have expertise in one or more areas is a plus.
