    Job Overview:

    APTIM is seeking an energetic and motivated intern to join our Resilient Solutions team working on coastal and flood control related resilience projects, research, and analysis to contribute to our growing practice in this area. With changing climate and growing coastal populations, resilience of coastal communities is critical. APTIM provides a full-service resilience offering to our clients from planning and engineering through disaster response and recovery. APTIM's internship program provides students with the opportunity to apply skills gained in an academic setting to challenging projects and meaningful work assignments. Interns will be paired with experienced mentors and should be prepared to work in a dynamic environment, both independently and within a team, gaining experience in various aspects of coastal resilience.

    Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

    • Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data

    • Researching coastal resilience topics

    • Applying concepts of engineering

    • Developing and delivering presentations to share findings with internal and external audiences

    • Perform varied office functions in the preparation of reports and plans

    • Assist with scheduling, conducting, and documenting technical meetings

    • Aiding in creating content for the coastal resilience and flood control branding and digital strategy

    • Strong quantitative skillsets to support engineering projects, including large flood control structures

    • Conduct engineering analyses and apply engineering tools for the design and formulation of resilient projects

    • Assist project teams in conducting the design process for engineering projects from conceptual design to detailed designs

    • Prepare standard contract documents, such as technical specifications, engineering reports, regulatory applications and other technical documents

    • Coordinate work with engineers and professionals within and outside own discipline and with support services staff

    • Conduct field work including site inspections and construction observations

    • Manage individual tasks and small projects while also working collaboratively as part of a team for larger or multi-disciplinary projects

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Attending an accredited educational institution pursuing a Bachelor's & Master's degree in Architecture, Civil or Structural Engineering

    • Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA

    • Must be at least 18 years of age

    • Demonstrated technical and analytical skills

    • Must have experience with MS Office software, including but not limited to MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint

    • Experience with modeling, environmental data analysis or GIS is an asset

    • Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills

    • Must be a self-starter, excel in time management, and work well under pressure

    • Demonstrated strength in written and verbal communication skills suitable to a consulting environment

    • Must be highly collaborative and able to work independently

    • Must be available to work in various settings such as in the office and the field, depending on department needs.
